Sacramento Data Used in New Disciplining Study

We must use every available avenue to be informed about our children and the systems they are maturing through. Educators and scholars have focused countless hours to investigating and sharing their findings to aid the public in understanding what our students are up against. Specifically, this year three scholars, J. Luke Wood, Frank Harris III, Mohamed Khadar Abdi-Salam Qas, published a report entitled ‘The Capital of School Suspensions II: Examining the radical exclusion of black students in Sacramento City unified school district. This report highlights the disproportionate discipline actions of black male students. They also make reference to national data, although their specific numbers are for Sacramento City unified School District. You can read the full report here.
