What is the Day of Action?

The Day of Action is a scheduled, intentional and definite opportunity to engage the inherent might and power of a collective voice mobilized around a common goal to draw attention to help reform educational inequity. We will do so by:

  1. Bringing awareness and attention to the issues of educational inequity broadly and succinctly through all manners of communication available to us (a published equity agenda documenting challenges and solutions, in-person dialogues, Op-Eds, social media, etc.)

  2. Speaking and helping others to exercise their voice at their local school board meetings;

  3. Engaging with state lawmakers and empowering others to do the same

  4. Impacting the conversation on educational equity at the individual school level, the local school board level, the school district level as well as the state level.

A Day of Action is scheduled across each of our primary target locales throughout the Western United States. See below for the location, date and contact information for the local champions assigned to each currently scheduled Day of Action.

Each Day of Action Champions will :

  • Secure commitments from participants

  • Communicate with all participants to ensure readiness

  • Coordinate with other advocacy partners to maximize impact

  • Take on necessary advance work with policy makers prior to Days of Action

  • Review content and assist in the placement of Op-Eds

  • Lead testimony to law-makers and school boards and coordinate actions of others
